Our complete Bowl Projections, along with those from our friends at ESPN and CBS Sportsline are now updated.

The Biggest Question left to answer?

Who will be “The Biggest Loser” on Saturday night after the SEC Championship – Florida or Alabama.

We believe it will be Florida emerging victorious. CBS agrees. Mark Schlabach from ESPN says Alabama will cause some alligator tears.

Either way, it should be a great one between #1 Florida and #2 Alabama.

Nebraska could cause problems for the Texas Longhorns, who will earn a spot opposite the SEC Champion in the BCS Championship Game with a win. If the Longhorns lose, can TCU, Cincinnati or Boise State earn a place in the title game?

Surely Texas will roll…..but that’s what keeps this game exciting.

Here’s our current picks:

BCS National Championship: Florida vs. Texas

FedEx Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. TCU

Allstate Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. Cincinnati

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Iowa vs. Boise State

Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Ohio State

Need to know when your team is playing? Here’s the complete BCS and college football bowl schedule.

What a way to spend Thanksgiving weekend with thrilling games involving two of the nation’s Top 3 teams. Third-ranked Texas slugged it out against Texas A&M behind current Heisman front-runner Colt McCoy, while #2 Alabama survived against arch-rival Auburn, 26-21.

Here’s the predictions to close out rivalry Saturday.

Florida State at Florida: Tim Tebow’s final home game and, likely, Bobby Bowden’s final visit to the Swamp. After watching the Longhorns and Crimson Tide struggle on Thursday and Friday, the Gators leave no doubt. Florida 42, FSU 20

Notre Dame at Stanford: After gut-wrenching losses over the past several weeks, does the Fighting Irish have anything left in the tank? Expect Charlie Weis to be relieved from his duties within 48 hours following the conclusion of this game, his sixth loss of the season. Stanford 34, Notre Dame 27

Georgia at Georgia Tech: After breaking a long losing streak to the Dogs last season, Georgia Tech will be looking to make a statement in this game. They’re not completely out of the National Championship race, but would need significant help to get in (ala #7 LSU’s rise in 2007). They won’t be worrying about that as a miserable season keeps getting worse for Georgia. Georgia Tech 42, Georgia 30

Clemson at South Carolina: Can Clemson focus on this game with their biggest game in 15 years (ACC Championship vs. Georgia Tech) looming next week? Spurrier and company pull out all the stops, but CJ Spiller makes the difference. Clemson 24, South Carolina 20

Miami at South Florida: Jacory Harris and the ‘Canes keep South Florida from being the second-best team in the state. Miami 31, South Florida 17

Utah at Brigham Young: Technically, BYU is still “under consideration” for a berth in a Bowl Championship Series game, although it’s extremely unlikely. After “The Holy War” on Saturday, it’s completely out of the questions. Utah 35, BYU 31

Arkansas at LSU: All week long, everyone has been questioning Les Miles’ play-calling in the final minutes of last week’s loss to Ole Miss. The questions don’t get any easier as the likely All-SEC QB Ryan Mallett steals the show with a huge day and secures a berth in the AT&T Cotton Bowl. Arkansas 34, LSU 24

UCLA at USC: The Bruins need this game to solidify their position in the bowl pecking order as well as backing up Rick Neuheisel’s claim that “The LA football dynasty is over”. They’re still two years away from making the happen. Southern Cal 38, UCLA 17

Agree? Disagree? Let me know who your winners are below.

<!-- Please place the above code into your site where you want to have a bookmark/share/publicize link.

It’s a big weekend in College Football starting Thursday night with the Missouri Tigers and Nebraska Cornhuskers hooking up on ESPN. The headline of the weekend, though, will take place at Death Valley in Baton Rouge as the top-ranked Gators faceoff against the 4th ranked LSU Tigers. Let’s get to the picks.

Nebraska at Missouri (Thursday night): The Tigers begin a murderous three game stretch with Texas, Oklahoma State and the Cornhuskers. The winner takes a temporary lead in the Big XII North with undefeated Kansas waiting in the wings. Missouri QB Blane Gabbert’s interception streak comes to an end, but not before dealing Bo Pelini’s squad their first conference loss. Missouri 31, Nebraska 30.

Florida at LSU: Will he or won’t he? That’s the question regarding Tim Tebow. The entire College Football world is awaiting to see if the Heisman frontrunner and Florida QB will lead the Gators Saturday night. Besides, based on the highlights and passion for the game, it’s hard to believe Tim won’t answer the call. In the game of the season to date, Florida 28, LSU 24.

Georgia Tech at Florida State: In a related story, the Seminoles have a game this weekend. Everything has been overshadowed this week by the controversy regarding Bobby Bowden and head coach in waiting, Jimbo Fisher. If you thought it was bad in Tallahassee this week, just wait until after this game. Georgia Tech 31, Florida State 20.

Michigan at Iowa: Kirk Ferentz’s Hawkeyes team has been a classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story. Week 1: Defeat Northern Iowa 17-16. Week 4: Go on the road and upset the nation’s #5 team (Penn State) 21-10. Week 5: Hang on to win against Arkansas State 24-21. What will happen in week 6 is anyone’s guess. If Iowa wins, they’ll tie their best start in 25 years. Here’s to next year. Michigan 24, Iowa 21.

Oregon at UCLA: If anyone is going to contend with the Trojans for Pac-10 supremacy, it will be the Ducks, although a quarterback controversy could be on the horizon. Jeremiah Masoli was injured in last week’s game against Washington State and backup Nate Costa – a fan favorite – is scheduled to start this weekend against UCLA. The Bruins are still bent on proving there is more than one team in Los Angeles, but they don’t have the firepower to do it this weekend. Oregon 38, UCLA 20.

Georgia at Tennessee: Neither of these teams are having the type of season they envisioned. The Vols need to win to keep their bowl hopes alive, while the Bulldogs need to show they are still on the same level as Florida, LSU and Alabama. If UGA can prevent dwelling on last week’s controversial unsportsmanlike conduct pentalty, Mark Richt, Joe Cox and company will earn a much needed victory. Georgia 24, Tennessee 17.

Oklahoma State at Texas A&M: The NCAA doesn’t like being lied to and Dez Bryant is going to suffer their wrath starting with the game against the Aggies. The star WR was suspended for improper dealing with an agent, but is flying to Indianapolis next week to plead his case. Even with the controversy, the Cowboys have a better offense, better personnel and a better team. Come Saturday night, they’ll have the better result. Oklahoma State 20, Texas A&M 13.

Wisconsin at Ohio State: The Badgers have been one of the biggest early season surprises, not only in the Big 10, but also in the country. Bret Bielema’s squad boasts the nation’s 10th ranked rushing attack, while the Buckeyes are in the Top 15 in rushing defense. Ohio State gets back on track for the Rose Bowl and BCS National Championship with a Saturday afternoon victory. Ohio State 27, Wisconsin 16.

What about you? Who are your winners for this weekend?

Another college football weekend is in the books, but this one didn’t have near as many upsets as last week. Even so, we learned a number of new things as the 2009 college football season continues to unfold.

1. Jimmy Clausen and many others are very much in the Heisman race. Between injuries to Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford and the boring schedule to date from Colt McCoy’s Texas Longhorns, the race is wide open for the 2009 Heisman Trophy. The top candidates outside of the Big 3 include: Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen, Cincinnati QB Tony Pike, Stanford RB Toby Gerhart and Miami QB Jacory Harris. Although Tebow arguably has the lead currently, this will be one of the most fascinating finishes in a long, long time.

2. Speaking of the Heisman, 2008 recipient Sam Bradford takes Oklahoma from a good team and makes them a great team. With all due respect to backup QB Landry Jones, the Oklahoma Sooners just aren’t the same without Bradford. He is the difference between an 8-4 squad and one that contends for the BCS National Championship. The bad news is, based on remarks from Bradford today in a press conference, there is still an air of uncertainty regarding his return. Although OU would love to see him back on the field, Bob Stoops and his coaching/training staff are handling it the right way.

3. Florida State may miss a bowl game for the first time in 25 years. For all the hype of the “coach in waiting” concept, the Seminoles are showcasing how detrimental it can be to a program. A 2-3 start in which they were expected to be on the road towards a championship has turned up the heat on current head coach Bobby Bowden. Like him or dislike him, he’s built the FSU football program from the ground up and deserves to determine when he will step down. But, a loss Saturday against Georgia Tech will continue to raise more questions than answers about his future.

4. Barring an upset in the Conference Championship Game, only one team from the Big XII will make the BCS. The Bowl Championship Series is about one thing: Money. This means television and sponsorship revenue. Right now, only a few teams in the Big XII are capable of creating that draw, namely Texas and Oklahoma. The thought that Kansas or Nebraska would receive an at-large bid over a team like Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State or Alabama is ridiculous. Look for Texas to be the only team who makes the BCS on “Selection Sunday.”

5. Chip Kelly should not allow LeGarrette Blount to return to the football program. I’m a big believer in second chances, but this is not one that makes sense to anyone other than Blount. Oregon has demonstrated they are a better team without him and rookie head coach Chip Kelly doesn’t need to open himself up to this second-guessing and criticism. If Blount does return to the program, how long until he starts complaining about the number of carries he receives or whether or not he is starting? That type of behavior could divide and destroy a team that is currently position to receive an at-large BCS bid, a conference championship or maybe more. The University of Oregon Ducks should just say no.

6.LSU can lose vs. #1 Florida on Saturday and still play for the BCS National Championship. This game nearly lost its luster before the unexplainable unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Georgia’s A.J. Green and LSU’s amazing comeback in the final minute. Florida has a lot more to lose on Saturday against the Tigers simply based on the schedule. After Saturday, Florida’s highest ranked opponents for the remainder of the regular season are 25th ranked South Carolina and Georgia, who is currently not ranked in the Top 25. Meanwhile, LSU still plays #3 Alabama, #17 Auburn and #20 Ole Miss. Additionally, by running the table Les Miles’ LSU squad would earn a rematch with (likely) top ranked Florida in the SEC Championship Game, which would springboard them into the Rose Bowl to play in the BCS National Championship game. Bottom line, the Gators need this game more than LSU.

<!-- Please place the above code into your site where you want to have a bookmark/share/publicize link.
